Peter Sibbald grew up on the Lake Simcoe shore lands of his pioneer ancestors near Sibbald’s Point, Ontario. After completing two degrees at Queens’ University, he began freelancing for the Kingston Whig Standard in 1983 and three years later launched his magazine career covering the Boston Marathon for TIME. Since then, he has worked steadily on assignments in North America and Asia for many of the top US and Canadian magazines (please see Clients). Between assignments and other projects, Peter has turned the camera around to document the process of his own family in the making. His photographs have been collected by the Canadian Museum of Contemporary Photography under the auspices of the National Gallery of Canada, and bodies of his work continue to be exhibited throughout Canada. Peter resides in a rural community north of Toronto with his wife & two daughters.
